What Breaks You Builds You
For years I fought against the currents of life. I tried to prove myself in every storm control every tide, and resist every wave. But today standing beside a quiet river, I finally realized a deep truth perhaps I was never meant to fight. Maybe like the river I was meant to flow.
Life never moves in a straight line. Some days are filled with light while others feel like the sun will never rise again. I have lived through moments when everything seemed to slip through my fingers. The weight of past mistakes fear of the future and the overwhelming burden of reality sat heavily on my shoulders.
Every day was a new battle convincing myself that things would get better hoping that tomorrow would bring change. But deep inside an exhaustion had settled a silent despair that grew stronger with time. The more I tried to control everything the more I felt like I was losing myself.
The River’s Whisper A New Realization
This morning restless and tired I found myself by a secluded riverbank. The water moved gently glistening under the morning sun its surface dancing to a silent melody. I sat down and watched the fallen leaves floating on the water. They did not resist they did not fight they simply drifted. And in that moment a voice within me whispered:
"Maybe I have been holding on too tightly."
Surrender Is Not Defeat It’s Freedom
We are taught to fight for our dreams for our future for our place in the world. But sometimes resistance weakens us while surrender gives us strength.
We try to shape life according to our will obsessed with controlling every turn but we forget that water is never still. Stagnant water becomes a pond and a pond slowly decays.
A river on the other hand always flows forward carving new paths, breaking through obstacles and shaping its own destiny. I thought to myself if the river can keep moving despite the rocks in its way then why can’t I?
Embracing the Flow of Life
I placed my hand in the cool water. A strange sense of peace washed over me as if the river had lifted some of the weight off my soul.
I cannot change the past. I cannot predict the future. But I can set myself free in this present moment. I don’t need to control every turn in my journey I just need to trust the flow like the river does always moving forward even when it doesn’t know exactly where it’s going.
What Breaks Us Also Builds Us
Here’s a truth we often ignore: Life doesn’t break us it reshapes us.
Hard times come and test our patience, our strength and our resilience. They shake us to the core forcing us to question everything we once believed. But these very struggles are what make us stronger.
When a river flows through mountains, it does not remain weak it becomes powerful. It cuts through the toughest rocks creating new paths. If its waters stop flowing it ceases to be a river and turns into a lifeless pond.
We too must keep moving despite our difficulties. We must carve our way through obstacles embracing change instead of fearing it.
Surrender Is Not Losing It’s Letting Go
We often think that letting go is a sign weakness. But sometimes the greatest courage lies in surrendering to life’s flow.
Will I ever find answers to all of life’s questions? Maybe not. But here’s what I do know:
When we learn to flow life takes us exactly where we need to be.
The river never questions its path it simply moves forward.
And maybe so should we.
