Personal Development

Overcoming Obstacles Deep Inside Your Own Head

By Adrian MudryPublished 7 years ago 3 min read

Personal development is an important topic. Sometimes I feel like people just skip over this topic, or undervalue it. I hope this article will get to everyone who needs to see this, and will help them start small and continue big. Also, I would just like to say one thing, don't believe anyone who says you are not enough or you can't do it. If there's anyone who can do it, it's you!

Henry Ford once said, "If you think you can or you can't do it, you are right," let's think about this for a second.

Let's get to the article then. Today I am bringing you five tips on how to get better, be more organized, and live a happier life.

1. Five by Five Rule

This rule is really simple. It says if the problem you have is not going to matter in five years, don't spend more than five minutes on it. This is especially valuable when you are dealing with overthinking. Everyone overthinks, but it's completely unnecessary. From now on, every time you have an issue, use five by five rule.

2. Write down three things you are grateful for every morning.

Giving thanks is hugely important. You don't have to tell anyone about it, do it just for you. There are people who wish they had your life. Besides, it will also improve your mood, and set you up for the day.

3. Focus more on positive things/say more positive things.

Everyone has that one annoying colleague. Everyone has bad days. It all depends on your outlook. Instead of focusing on your annoying colleague, focus on that sweet colleague. Also, change your language. Instead of saying "sorry I am late," say "thank you for waiting for me." This will not only change your day, it will also change the day to your colleagues.

4. Plan your day ahead.

Planning your day ahead has massive benefits for you. It helps you achieve more during the day, and reduces your busyness. Those who plan ahead are clear on what tasks are important for them, and get them done. This reduces chaos, and you don't have to think about what to do next.

There's a great tool called Trello. It's online and completely for free. You can set your tasks there and move them along as you finish them.

5. Educate yourself more.

Reading books has positive effects on your cognitive side of the brain. Besides, when you are reading a book you are slowly becoming a master on a particular subject. Furthermore, reading is a great form of relaxation, and I am sure many people will discover they like after they try it, just like I did.

If you don't like reading there are always other ways to gain knowledge. Audiobooks are becoming more and more popular. Mostly the app called Audible, where you can find every book there is on audio.

Personally, I like podcasts as well. If you find someone worth listening to, there's nothing better when you are traveling, or just have time.

Youtube is a big phenomenon right now. You can find information worth millions there, but you can also find someone who has no idea what they are talking about. Be careful who you listen to.

There are websites such as Udemy or Skillshare, which offer many courses. You just have to pick yours. The only thing worth mentioning here is that you will have to pay for them. They have amazing sales sometimes.

I hope you find these five tips useful. I certainly do. Start implementing them from tomorrow and you will see better results within a month.
