What Makes a True Man
The Unchanging Values and Standards of Authentic Manhood
Ever since the Industrial Era came to a close, men have been missing strong male figures to look up to. Spoiled by comfortable office jobs, our hands have grown tender and our determination has weakened. We've transformed into the classic corporate "yes man" – spineless individuals who sneak around ready to betray others just to climb the ladder of material gain. We might wonder, "Perhaps women will find me appealing now that I own this fancy car and upscale apartment."
What happened to the genuine men from earlier times? Those who labored tirelessly until their bodies ached; those with rough hands and hardened feet, the kind of man that makes women's hearts skip a beat? The reality is stark: "They've all passed away. What remains are we – the betraying, weak-willed individuals who lack backbone."
Though these authentic men are gone, their wisdom from bygone eras continues to guide us. We can discover from our ancestors what true masculinity really means.
1 A Man Must Display Courage
According to Chinese wisdom, a man's being is filled primarily with Yang energy – the core of masculine power, representing strength and life force. Yang moves with force, takes the lead, and connects to flame and warmth. Women, in contrast, carry Yin energy, the calm, welcoming force that flows through all things. Yin moves with grace, receives willingly, and links to moving streams.
As a man, you must embody Yang energy completely. There's no room for hesitation, being too timid to pursue your desires, or questioning your own worth. Courage must define you; it's your responsibility to be fearless. You embody Yang, the one who initiates. When you want to connect with a woman, you must take that first step. You cannot expect her to make the move – she carries Yin energy. She's the gentle, welcoming soul who waits for your approach. Allow her to express her Yin nature, rather than switching roles and becoming the timid man who struggles to even greet someone. Nobody ever says, "What a weakling for thinking she'd give him the time of day..." Instead, you'll typically hear, "Amazing courage! I wish I had that confidence."
Women gravitate toward men who can serve as their foundation, someone reliable to depend on, a comforting presence during difficult times; courage demonstrates that internal fortitude. You might describe courage as 'the bravery to take action', transforming anxiety into power, viewing rejection and hardship as natural outcomes when pursuing your aspirations.
Courage extends to business ventures and life overall. The British Special Air Service (SAS) lives by their well-known creed: "Who Dares Wins". When you possess intelligence, courage, and persistence, success becomes likely. Consider the words of German thinker Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: "Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it."
2 A Man Must Embrace Honor
Honor represents the quality of a true gentleman. Possessing honor means dedicating yourself to following particular ethical standards. People view an honorable person's promise as a pledge of consistent moral behavior. Today, we often use 'Integrity' to express this same concept.
Mastering honorable living will develop your character more than a decade of corporate scheming ever could. Your commitments must represent sacred vows that you'll honor regardless of circumstances. Your promises should be more valuable than precious metals.
Creating an honorable name requires tremendous effort. It demands complete dedication to maintaining your integrity and living according to clear moral values. When successful, your reputation will grow. Others will see you as someone dependable, capable of handling major duties and keeping the most sensitive information. Accepting greater responsibilities and confidences can elevate your existence to extraordinary levels of success and abundance. However, beware... if you ever violate that confidence through one selfish or corrupt deed, what might take decades to build can crumble in a single night.
In today's Information Era, positive news spreads quickly while negative news moves even faster. The only method to prevent bad news is to never create it initially. Watch your behavior carefully because people hear your words, but they observe your actions.
Place your palm against your chest and declare...
"May my values guide my path, drawn from my deepest understanding of what's just. May my ethics remain strong and genuine, directing my choices."
Now touch your forehead and say... "Make it so!"
Create change today by taking a firm stand and courageously defending your honor. Follow your principles. Never engage in anything that would damage your integrity and others' faith in you. In exchange for your dedication, you'll generate more opportunities; chances will arrive more quickly and plentifully. You'll gain the opportunity to experience life at its greatest potential and magnificence. Therefore, become a person of honor – your future depends on it.
3 A Man Must Show Generosity
Generosity means possessing a giving, understanding, and noble spirit. Put simply, generous individuals have expansive hearts. They demonstrate grace and kindness, showing charity and goodwill. A generous gentleman shares freely without expecting returns. He finds happiness simply in witnessing others' joy. He engages others with fascinating conversation and shares humor to bring laughter.
A man's generous nature prevents him from easily getting upset by others' words or behaviors. Anything that might seem offensive appears for what it actually represents... air moving through branches. Like flexible bamboo, he remains unbroken, simply swaying with the breeze's direction.
Once you've developed generosity, you'll naturally grasp that a Universal Law of Multiplication exists, stating: "Everything you send out returns to you amplified tenfold." For instance, if you disrespect someone, ten others will disrespect you. If you steal $500 from an elderly person, eventually you'll lose $5000. Similarly, if you donate $200 from genuine kindness, $2000 will become available for you to earn. This might happen through your work or an unexpected financial gain.
Should you allow selfishness to control you, exploit others for personal advantage, and ignore those in need, you can only anticipate struggle, resentment, and frustration coming your way. What you plant, you harvest; you receive what you distribute. This represents a cosmic principle.
A generous man understands that assisting others doesn't drain his resources, but rather, due to the Law of Multiplication, it multiplies his resources tenfold, enabling him to create more positive impact. He recognizes that by helping others, he simultaneously helps himself.
Cultivate the practice of addressing others' challenges and you become someone who creates value. You generate and offer more than typical people, therefore earning more because you provide greater benefit to others.
Begin taking small actions today to integrate these qualities into your personality. Assist someone who needs help, honor a commitment, find courage to voice your thoughts. Push yourself to become an authentic man: Show Courage, live with Honor, demonstrate Generosity.
