1. Reading

If curling up with a book is your idea for a fun Friday night, you're certainly not alone.

Reading is pleasing all over the world. It's cheap (or free) and accessible because it allows people to explore new and exciting worlds and expand their knowledge. There is always a new and exciting book to read, and when you're done reading, there's nothing better than lending it to a friend so they can enjoy it too. This hobby is certainly not new, but it is certainly good!

2. Travel

Whether traveling across the ocean or exploring the next town, traveling is an exciting hobby that virtually anyone can join. From the planning stage to the trip itself, travel gives people something to look forward to with a short escape from reality. In addition, memories will last a lifetime.

I love traveling because it doesn't have to cost my arms and legs. If you don't have enough cash, you can enjoy couch-surfing and backpackers while visiting your favorite places. Plus most people ignore their own backyard - Don't forget to travel locally!

3. Fishing

If you need to get away from your daily routine, relax on a fishing trip. Whether you're fishing for a meal or for fun, hobbies are a great way to relax and enjoy the great outdoors and fishing may be the best. There are many different types of fishing meaning you can access your hobbies almost everywhere, ocean, river, lake etc.. If you're looking for a challenge, try ice fishing or stand-up paddleboard fishing.

You can also bring your friends and bring your family too - make it an activity for all. Have a picnic table, bring your favorite food and enjoy the experience!

4. Crafts

Creativity is universal, and craftsmanship is also universal. From knitting and crocheting to paper and bead crafts, there are many paths that crafts loving people can take. The Internet has opened a whole new world for craft lovers everywhere. If you can't find the consumables locally, you can easily find them online. Craft websites and message boards provide inspiration when you're lacking in creativity.

With a glass of cold wine in your living room, you can comfortably work on art and craft projects and designs, or attend a nearby craft class until your heart is content. That is the beauty of this hobby! Don't forget to share your hobby online, it's likely others will love your work too.

5. Television

One of the most popular hobbies in the world is watching TV. In recent years, my hobbies have changed a lot but it's an activity that many people do on a daily basis, as many networks offer endless on-demand options and require less effort to watch TV.

Watching TV isn't something that people typically associate with being a hobby but it absolutely is. Perhaps because we watch TV so often that we forget that it's entertainment. Television can also be educational, as certain shows feature super compelling and informative content. I don't give television much time anymore but I used to love it.

6. Bird Watching

This hobby is becoming more and more popular as virtually anyone can participate. Bird watching, sometimes referred to as "birding," does not require a lot of equipment. This hobby is attractive for men and women alike of all ages, and it's an excellent activities that transcends generations.

Being in the wild is also incredibly positive for your mental state, so bird watching can have a very positive impact on you in many ways. You can continue this activity all day by bringing books, food and a tent if you choose on staying the night. Alternatively, you can do bird watching for about 30 minutes before going to work. That is the beauty of this hobby!

7. Collecting

It's nice to be surrounded by what we love. That's one of the reasons why collections are so popular. From Pokemon cards and coins to action figures and dolls, there are countless ways to collect them. NFTs anyone?

Some collectibles are hard to find, which makes your hobby even more interesting. Take coin collections as an example. You may have to travel to find the next coin, increasing your adventure and excitement. My wife has been collecting coins since she was very young, now she doesn't have much in terms of value but she's got coins from all over the globe.

8. Music

Music lovers can even challenge themselves to make music, which is their hobby. With all the top music producers and artists embarking on a musical journey as a hobby, who knows, you could be the next big thing!

Music is played, heard and loved all over the world - it connects people. It's often described as the universal language. You can enjoy music at home, at concerts, or anywhere. I can't have a day without it.

9. Gardening

Many build a garden to make food, while others value the outdoor entertainment and a sense of accomplishment. Some are willing to feed others from their yard, while others sell produce for additional money.

You can participate even if you do not have a large outdoor space. With a small balcony, you can plant plants in small pots or hanging baskets. If you don't have any outdoor space, you can take care of indoor plants. We are limited for both indoor and outdoor space but we do what we can.

10. Video Games

Let's face it, video games get bad rap, but... people love them! There are games for almost all personalities and tastes. Online games allow players to connect with others online.

People of all ages can play video games. Get the right age-appropriate game for you, your friends and family and have some fun! If you have sleep problems, playing video games can help you enjoy the quiet of night but be warned it can also be the reason why you're not sleeping, so maintain a healthy balance.

The hobbies that defined the Pandemic

2020 was a tough year, in fact 2021 wasn't too much better. We have all learned a lot about ourselves and tackled many financial, social and personal issues. If you were accustomed to being a social butterfly, isolation and social blockades probably upset your world.

Along with all the hardship brought about by the pandemic, great reinvention and new ideas came to light. During this pandemic, we learned about ourselves and are still learning.

By keeping a social distance, we've recognized the importance of human interaction, but it also helped us feel comfortable being on our own which may not have been taught in other ways...

What did we all do in our free time? We decided to make our time as productive as possible (and played a lot of scrabble). Take a look at the hobbies below to find some popular hobbies during the current pandemic.

11. Yoga

Yoga is a mental and physical activity that helps build muscle and work on balance, concentration and core strength. The beauty of yoga is that you can do it anywhere. You don't have to go to the gym to do yoga, and you certainly don't need luxury equipment. You can also practice yoga outdoors when the weather is nice.

Yoga is a sport with many levels of difficulty and movements to suit your abilities. Beginners can learn by taking simple steps and then gradually increase the difficulty over time.

12. Arts & Crafts

Art and craft projects vary in size, but the best part is that you can potentially get your hands dirty with different artistic activities every day. All you need to do is see my wife's Instagram page, she's been busy creating. Engage your children, parents and siblings in the fun and make it a memorable family activity.

13. Hiking

It's even more important to appreciate the great outdoors during the pandemic because vitamin D and fresh clean air ain't a bad thing. Hiking and having the wind blow through your hair is incredibly freeing. Check out the hiking trails in your area and give them a try.

14. Gardening

Gardening was a popular hobby before the pandemic, but it is now even more popular, even I got into it more. If you're looking for a new gardening challenge, try growing your favorite plants and vegetables from the seedlings, some of which are crazy easy to grow!

15. Cooking

Well I already loved cooking and I do it everyday but for those who wouldn't consider themselves cooks, the pandemic definitely made them try. All this free time gives people the patience to make mistakes in the kitchen without feeling frustrated or giving up. Whether you're sticking to recipes or choosing a new one and making it yourself, cooking should be a fun new hobby, and in my opinion something everyone should get better at.
