— Ai Intrusion ~ Are you Next ~ Is Ai Evolution after your job? —
Few workplaces haven't been affected. Ai is in supermarkets, at doctors' offices, and even monitoring farms. I just can't think of anything this machine is not getting into, can you? For instance: Education ~ Law and Tech jobs will one day have a major influence or be taken over by these inanimate machines, with accuracy and vigor. From mechanics' diagnoses to a wide variety of everyday jobs, including fast food workers, with this input having the ability to cut their unnecessary work hours. I'm certain all of us have been touched by this with our short stories and colorful headings, have you? Even comments are very questionable 'Non-Robot' insertions.
— Having a steady income just gives you one less thing to worry about —
The disappointment can be shattering to be laid off or fired. Most of us have experienced this one time or another, but it hurts more to be replaced by a mere machine, even those once highly recognized within their careers. Do the best you can to research a chosen career to see if it will be available for you once you've spent years preparing for it. If you can't effectively beat them, consider joining them to create programs for this growing invasive institution. This technology will bring about jobs and careers that have not even been thought of.

This generation certainly has its own characteristics: From colorful Tatts splattered all over their body to work ethics, life experience, habits, and even vocabulary. Certainly, there are specific traits relegated to Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and now, Generation Z.

Toss-up your 'Blinker,' just move-on, changing Lanes while watching out for the DriverLess cars; touted as safer than Grandma's Buick!
Have you ever been fired? We never forget that day. 1st reaction of ALL would probably be the overwhelming feeling of rejection - What did I do wrong? Knocks your wind out! Usually our 1st Firing from our 1st job is the most memorable: But, after the initial Firing-Phenomenon, all the following 'Usher-Outs' become old hat - certainly not so dramatic - been there done that 'tude-taken: An emotional shock to your personal inadequacy 'Failure Factor' Department? Then there's the, I've lost that aspect of my sense of purpose and contribution, Nah! We, of course, will miss our co-workers, watercooler chats, and 'workable' comfort zones, but as with all facets of life, it's time to make a change, for better or worse.
Lose your j.o.b.? You may start feeling emotionally unhinged, all of which may 'Pave' the road for chronic physical issues to arise. ReInvent-ReRoute Yourself ~ Zig-Zag ~ No occupational hazards in sight.

After all, your career-job often identifies what it is that you do. But there are those who feel that they identify with 'the job' as an integral part of their being: Others may simply say, "I punch a clock, gotta pay the Rent," nothing more.
Odd to me how many 'Expressions-Descriptions' there are for this type of flash-bang notice. Often depended on the job category, the industry it is taken from, or the lingo from which side of the 'pond' you may be from. But, no matter how this is conveyed, it usually brings out dizzying gut-reactions regardless of the circumstances.
'FIRED' - Made Redundant - Pink slip - Canned - Terminated - Walking papers - Vacate notice and I'm certain there are many less subtle missives blatantly administered. Currently, you might hear: You're not gone yet? Those who are unceremoniously sacked are often helped to box up and then, as I've drawn, shot out the door from a 'Cannon.'
Downsizing ~ Outsourcing 'The Cream of the Crop' ~ efficiency with the minimums, only – No Dead-Weight here – Darwinism: "Survival of the fittest," Indeed! Of course, there's always the First-Time-Ever Quick Lunch with the Boss. The 'Diplomatic' Approach - The Doomsday Talk - Never ends well. Politics (even nepotism) plays a large part in this oftentimes complicated scenario. There are many reasons why someone doesn't work out for a particular position within any venue: Certainly, no question about that.
Most of us have experienced this at least once in our lives – as you continually shake your head – "didn't see this coming!" Out of disbelief, an array of Lumps in Throat-Mad-Glad Revelations: Actually, that 'j.o.b.' just may not have been 'IT' for you; a semi-pain-free rationalization?
Try something different at this stage; mix up your job choices. If you're staying within your vocation—choose an unusual path to utilize it. This 'Life Change' can actually be Way-Better: Was-it-Though a blessing or a curse? Don't run it into the Ditch.
How long did it take you to recover from your 1st Firing? Come-on, we all got dumped at least once. No matter how insignificant that job may have been, it still stung! 'It's easier to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled.' - Mark Twain -

Dear Jay: Would you believe I've been fired from one job? The rest I quit before I was fired, although I did work one job for 13 years and another job for 10. I've not been able to work since 2017, but as a writer, the rise of AI does bother me. I worry that one day, the only way the poor will be able to make money is at the expense of the rich, and perform (such as they do on the Running Man). Yeah, IK, I'm a little weird, too. MC
AI is like a technology cancer from which there is no relief. As it slowly gobbles up all the jobs, my question is, what are people going to do? How will they survive if they can't work? Do we become a society of people who just get up each day and do nothing? Thought-provoking, Jay.
I've had many jobs throughout my life and a career in Nursing/Nursing Education, but have never been fired. Do divorces count? I may have been fired as a wife???
It's scary how AI is taking over everything. I am one of those people who scream at the phone, "Let me speak to anyone that has a pulse." At my age, I am going to be 76 in April, I find it scary, that AI is going to play a part in filling prescriptions, and in diagnosing. I wrote a funny article about a robot snowblower gone wild. We have gotten a lot of snow and ice in Delaware, and my husband found on the internet that they had them, and that is why I wrote the fiction article. It was fun to write, but writing fiction is one thing, and the way I see the healthcare system, is the specialists are pawing things off on the primaries, and the primaries are pawing things off on the pharmacists, and the pharmacists are walking out. And everyone is pawning things off on AI, and it makes me wonder what type of world is being left for my Grandchildren who are 14 and almost 19. I'll tell you what if they can produce a robot who actually breathes and bleeds, and can give birth to a baby, then I will be impressed. I wrote a fictional story based on male gender about Stepford wives in reverse. This fiction can be fun stuff, once you get the hang of it. I have always thought your were a lawyer Jay, am I right or is that fiction too.lol
I have coached people that, unless you have a new job, ‘make them fire you’/din’t quit. Quitters don’t get the pittance of unemployment
I was #1 in my company in sales for the year. The following year, my territory was cut in half, and my quota doubled. I was gone for poor performance at the end of the year. Such is the life of a salesman.
JB - Yes, we've all been fired at least once in our lives, and it hurts. Sometimes, however, you can manipulate the situation to your advantage. I was working for a newly hired director who wanted her friend to have my job. She made my life a living hell, and I knew she would fire me when the timing suited her. Through some contacts, I heard that a competing institution had a position that was a better fit for my career and paid more than what I was earning. I interviewed, got the job, and gave my two-week notice, leaving the new director high and dry, trying to get her friend hired in time to maintain continuity. She couldn't do it, and the position remained unfiled for two months with lots of duties falling into the proverbial cracks. It didn't help the new director make a good impression. The bottom line was even sweeter. She ended up firing her friend for inefficiency seven months into the job. Kathy
I could relate to so much of this; the mix of fear, disbelief, and eventual growth is perfectly captured here.
I was fired once, but after reflecting, I understood why. I was wasting their time, hah. In my early days as a worker, I took a job bartending. When I found a different/better job, I went down to weekends there. I’m sure they found someone to fill all my shifts and sat me down for the ole slap in the face. I was upset at first, mostly because of a few friends there and regular customers who always tipped well, lol. I’ve fired myself quite a few times by quitting jobs, haha. Scary how quickly AI is making its mark. Like you say, students need to be careful of which direction they choose. By the time they graduate, the opportunities might not even exist anymore. L-bud
Congratulations on your top Story 😁
I think chefs would be safe because I don't think AI would be able to cook food hehehe
