How AI Became My Personal Teacher🤖📚
From Overwhelmed to Confident: Turning Complex Material into Clear Understanding

Today, I want to share a practical example of using AI in learning and work, based on my own experience.
Recently, I took a qualification exam to apply for a job. The material was extensive, complex, and entirely in English. Although English itself isn’t a problem for me, the sheer volume of information was overwhelming. After reading the entire course, I felt like I was “hearing bells but not knowing in which church they are ringing.” I recognized terms and concepts, but I struggled to connect them into one coherent picture. There were definitions, frameworks, processes, and detailed explanations — all important, yet difficult to organize in my head.
At some point, frustration started to creep in. I was spending hours reading and highlighting, but I wasn’t confident that I truly understood the material. 😅 I realized that simply rereading the content would not be enough. I needed a smarter, more strategic approach.
So I decided to experiment.
First, I gathered all the educational materials and combined them into one coherent PDF file. I wanted everything in a single place so the AI could analyze the full context, not just fragments. Then I uploaded the document to ChatGPT with a simple instruction:
“Familiarize yourself with this PDF and then explain the course to me in simple Polish.”
The response exceeded my expectations. The AI translated and simplified the material in a way that made it structured, clear, and digestible. Complex terminology was broken down into understandable explanations. Long paragraphs became concise summaries. Abstract concepts were presented in logical steps. Suddenly, everything started to make sense. Instead of isolated pieces of information, I saw a complete system.
This was the turning point. ✅
Instead of feeling lost, I felt oriented. Instead of memorizing blindly, I started understanding.
But I didn’t stop there.
Once I had gone through the simplified explanations, I wanted to test myself. Passive understanding is one thing — active recall is another. So I gave ChatGPT another instruction:
“Based on this PDF course, prepare a set of 20 questions: 15 true/false, 2 single-choice, and 3 multiple-choice questions. Ask the questions one by one and explain immediately whether my answer is correct, with a brief justification.”
This changed everything.
The AI became my interactive examiner. It asked questions one at a time, waited for my response, and immediately provided feedback. If I made a mistake, it explained why. If I answered correctly, it reinforced the reasoning behind it. This immediate feedback loop was incredibly powerful.
I repeated the practice exam several times. Each round helped me identify weak areas and clarify misunderstandings. Over time, my answers became more precise and confident. Eventually, I reached a point where I made no mistakes at all. The confidence boost was priceless. 💪
Lessons Learned / Key Takeaways ✨
What did this experience teach me?
First, AI does not replace learning. I still had to read, think, and engage with the material. However, AI significantly enhanced the efficiency and quality of my learning process.
Second, AI works exceptionally well as:
a translator of complex language into simpler explanations,
a content organizer that structures chaotic information,
a generator of practice exercises and mock exams,
a real-time feedback provider.
In many ways, it felt like having a personal tutor available 24/7 — patient, structured, and adaptable to my pace.
Most importantly, I realized that effective learning is not about consuming more information. It’s about understanding, structuring, and testing knowledge. AI can support all three stages.
Tip for readers 📝
If you’re learning independently — whether for exams, certifications, or professional development — consider using AI as your study partner. Ask it to:
summarize long materials,
explain concepts in simpler terms,
create practice questions,
simulate exams,
identify key takeaways,
or even challenge your understanding.
The key is not just to read the answers but to actively engage in dialogue.
Conclusion 🎯
We live in a time when learning no longer has to be a lonely or chaotic process. AI can serve as a powerful assistant, helping us learn faster and more effectively — but only if we use it consciously.
Do you use AI in learning or work? What has been your experience?
Who would have thought that in 2025 preparing for an exam could feel like having your own personal tutor by your side? 😉

I wholeheartedly agree with this AI is a valuable tool. It’s not something to be dependent on to replace critical thinking, but it is a valuable tool. I use it for languages when I want to learn something. I think people are simply scared of it, but it is absolutely a useful tool. I just wrote an article about that.
