Great conjunction

Once in a lifetime, this month

Conjunction 2020

Our culture teaches us that the holidays are a season of family and friends conquering great distances to be together again. In this materialistic society we buy gifts to show our love and have the perfect meal together even if we rarely see one another all year, the Holidays are special. The most wonderful time of the year.

Usually these stories would be about a long ride in a plane or driving our cars across the country, not the orbits of two of the largest planet in our solar system. 2020 has been different in many ways including the bang we are going out with the great conjunction this year.

I’ve heard predictions about what the electromagnetic force could do and reminded of things like the Carrington Event, that history repeats itself, the return of the Messiah and even a New World order could come from all this. However, I don’t see the connection.

I’ve personally preferred to focus on how we react to the energy forming in our sky. How will it affect us and our planet in positive ways. I’d like to spend time admiring the beauty and feeling the vibes from the view of the conjunction through my dad‘s old binoculars with my dearest friends on a zoom call. All of us admiring the same view from where we are. Even in one of the most challenging years of our lives.

On the first day of winter 2020, the winter solstice, there will be a great conjunction and in our view of the northern sky will be Jupiter and turn appearing as one enlongated star. They will appear so close in the sky about 0.1 degrees apart, although according to scientists they are actually millions of miles apart. To us, maybe a dimes space between the two is what we should expect to see with use of a pair of binoculars or a basic telescope. We too, can come together as one energy sending love to our sisters and brothers this Winter Solstice Conjunction day.

Perhaps you are thinking, how could the winter solstice be the first day of winter when it’s already been winter for weeks now. You are referring to the meteorological winter. The winter solstice is referring to the astronomical winter. It starts the winter season in our northern hemisphere.

On the day of the winter solstice we are tilted on the axes as far from the sun as possible. The sun rises in the east, sets in the west and in the astronomical winter arcs lower, close to the horizon. Yes, it’s the shortest day of the year but if you stand outside about noon that day notice your shadow. It will be the longest shadow you will cast till next year the same time.

SOL comes from the Latin word “sun”STICE or SISTERE means “to stand still”. For a few days before and after winter solstice the sun appears to stand still. The changes in the Sun‘s path are so slight it seems to freeze like that. Solstice.

The Great Conjunction that we are having on December 21, 2020 will be so rare our planet hasn’t seen one like this in hundreds of years like since the Middle Ages, in 1226 the conjunction was visible, in 1623 it was not. We had a conjunction 20 years ago too but we couldn’t see it. The one we are having this year is way more powerful. The conjunctions are not all created equal. As the crescent moon passes the planets in our skies Jupiter will far outshine Saturn by about 12 times. Saturn is already as bright as a first magnitude star so we will have to see this for ourselves this will be a phenomenal site, I’m certain.

With both Saturn and Jupiter appearing as one, like the Bethlehem star that the wisemen followed to find Jesus when he was born. Some are even referring to this as the Christmas star this year. What a remarkable time to be alive and have the opportunity to view this beautiful winter night sky and just a few days before Christmas. No matter what holiday we may celebrate this year let us all hold one another in all our diversity, Let’s hold each other in love.
