In the Eyes of a Modern Immortal

A Man of great age stands before the world in the Modern era

By Alejandrino AbrinaPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

As an immortal who has lived for over 2,000 years, I have seen many wonders of the world. I have witnessed the rise and fall of empires, the birth of religions, and the evolution of mankind. I have traveled far and wide, seen the most beautiful landscapes and met the most interesting people. But even after all these years, the world still holds many surprises for me.

In 2021, I decided to embark on a journey around the world once again. I packed my bags, grabbed my passport, and set off on a plane to New York City. I wanted to see how much the city had changed since my last visit in the early 1900s.

The moment I arrived, I was struck by the sheer scale of the city. The skyscrapers seemed to reach up to the heavens, and the noise and bustle of the city streets were overwhelming. But as I walked through the streets of Manhattan, I felt a strange sense of familiarity. The people, the buildings, and the energy of the city felt almost timeless.

As I made my way around the city, I saw many things that surprised me. The invention of the internet had changed everything. People no longer needed to physically visit a library to find information, as they could now access everything they needed online. People also seemed to be more connected than ever, thanks to social media platforms.

I was fascinated by the way people communicated and interacted with each other. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. But even with all the technological advancements, I noticed that there were still fundamental human needs that hadn't changed. People still needed to eat, sleep, and love.

After a few days in New York, I decided to head over to Europe. I had always been fascinated by the art and culture of the continent, and I wanted to see how much it had evolved since my last visit.

I spent a few weeks in Paris, visiting art museums and soaking up the culture. I was amazed by the way technology had changed the way art was created and displayed. There were digital installations, interactive exhibits, and virtual reality experiences that transported you to another world.

But even with all the advancements, the classic paintings and sculptures of the past still held a certain magic that couldn't be replicated by technology. I found myself spending hours admiring the works of the old masters, marveling at their timeless beauty.

From Paris, I made my way to Asia. I was excited to see how the continent had developed since my last visit. The bustling cities, ancient temples, and breathtaking landscapes were as awe-inspiring as ever.

But what struck me the most was the way the people had changed. They were more confident and self-assured than ever before. They had a sense of pride and determination that was inspiring to see. They were not just trying to catch up with the West; they were forging their own path and creating their own destiny.

I spent several months traveling around Asia, visiting different countries and experiencing different cultures. Everywhere I went, I found a sense of community and resilience that was heartening to see. People were determined to overcome the challenges of the modern world and build a better future for themselves and their families.

As my journey came to an end, I found myself reflecting on all the things I had seen and experienced. The world had changed in many ways, but at its core, it was still the same. The things that mattered most—love, friendship, and human connection—had not changed. They were still the things that made life worth living.

And yet, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness. I had lived for over 2,000 years, and I had seen the world evolve and change in ways that were unimaginable. But I had also seen the world suffer from the same issues over and over again. War, poverty, and inequality still plagued the world, despite all the advancements in technology and society. It seemed that no matter how far we progressed, we were still struggling to solve the same problems.

As I sat on a plane, flying back to my home, I realized that maybe the key to solving these issues was not in the advancements of technology or society, but in the advancements of ourselves. Perhaps it was time for us to look inward and work on our own personal growth and development. Only by becoming better individuals could we hope to create a better world.

With this thought in mind, I returned to my home, determined to continue my own personal journey of growth and self-discovery. As an immortal, I had seen the world change and evolve more times than I could count. But in the end, it was not the changes in the world that mattered, but the changes within ourselves.
