A Child With A Broken Heart
The Craft over Catharsis
Lisa used to be a free-spirited child until dark cloud and curses strike her life at an early age.
Lisa was the apple of her father's eyes and also his pride and joy at an early age. Her dad was very controlling to her mother, and her mother would not have any of that. Lisa's mother moved to Florida to get away from a controlling man. Different people would babysit Lisa because her mother had to work to support them. There was no stable babysitter in 2-year-old Lisa of life.
Lisa cried very hard every time her mother would leave her to stranger babysitters. Each day of the week would be a different person to babysit her. There was no daycare center like they have in these modern days funded by the government.
Lisa loved dogs but one day Lisa was playing with a neighbor's dog who was also pregnant. The dog jumped on toddler Lisa and bite her face. That was a traumatic experience for Lisa. She stayed away from dogs and was always fearful of dogs.
When Lisa turned three her mother got married again. Lisa was not happy she had to share her mother with her stepfather Greg. She tried to push her mother and Greg apart during their wedding. She threw a tantrum during the wedding. The guest thought it was cute, but Lisa thought it was the end of her beautiful world with her mom.
Lisa's mom got pregnant and her mom was constantly hospitalized. Lisa stepdad asked his brothers and nephews to watched Lisa; they end up raping the little girl. Lisa decided to hide in a closet with her toys, her safe heaven.
When Lisa turned 6 years old there was a big party at her mother's parent's house. Lisa stayed overnight with her cousins at her grandparents' house. The year before Lisa's grandmother gave her a beautiful child golden earring. It became Lisa's precious possession because it was given to her by her grandmother.
The night before the party, Lisa took off the earring before bed because she cannot sleep with it on. The earring was gone. The day before her cousins were giving her complements on her earring. Little did Lisa know her cousin was jealous and bothered that their grandmother just gave Lisa an earring.
One of Lisa's cousins stolen her precious earing while she was sleeping. Lisa cried all day and her grandmother tried to comfort her with hugs.
When Lisa turned 12 her stepdad tried to rape her while her mother was at work. Lisa's mother work at the overnight loan department at a bank. Lisa's mom got home after 2am. Poor Lisa, there were no lock on her bedroom door. All she can do was hold on for dear life under her thick blanket. It was hard to breath under the blanket, and she was sweating up a storm under the thick blanket.
Her stepdad tried to pull the blanket off, but 12-year-old Lisa became a strong girl because of her life battles at such a young age.
Lisa turned fourteen and she had many teen boys who wanted to date her. She was too emotionally wounded to want to have a boyfriend. The boy next door would chase her around her parents' car in the backyard and show her his private parts. The shock that put on her system.
Another teenager boy across the street came to seat next to Lisa while she was on her porch. Lisa tried to get up and go in her house trying to avoid any issue. It was too late the boy already had his hand on her thigh. Lisa had enough and grab his fingers and twisted them, she almost broke his fingers but stopped just to get away. Lisa never went out and sat on her porch again after that incident.
You think Lisa's youth was tragic her adulthood was way worst. You wonder how Lisa is living now?

Omgggg, as if her childhood wasn't traumatic enough, her adulthood was way worse? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I feel so sad for her 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Sadly can imagine Lisa being jailed for self defense against her ex husband or in a mental hospital. Once again let down by the system.
This is so heartbreaking. Lisa deserved safety and love :-(
Verb tense consistency issue in first line—commit to present or past tense. Can anything told be shown instead through an action or incidental detail? You have lots of room (in terms of word count) to create a narrative present and bring a lot of this out of exposition, and I would. I think it’s a good story that needs more craft to create a narrative present, but it might be tricky to preserve the voice, which is strong.💖 Mere suggestions from one reader who’s admittedly set in her ways. Best of luck in the challenge!
I really hope she got the help she needed and still needs maybe. Good job.
