Money-Saving Baby Hacks

Need some cheap hacks to make bay life easier? Here’s some good hacks!

In the beginning, baby's can be so expensive. You need so many things like a crib, bassinet, clothes, diapers, wipes, bottles, binki's, breast pump, toys, blankets, etc. Things add up and sometime's new parent's or even veteran parent's need ways to stay in budget and make life just a tad more frugal.

Need to save water?

Bathe that baby in the sink! Use a baby bath until that baby sits up, then put that little one in the sink! After meals when they are all messy is the best time! It is an easy clean with the faucet and they get to play in the water and feel like a big kid!

Teething pain?

Get the baby food tester mesh or silicone hand held device and put frozen fruit in it! Baby tested from my baby and it was a hit! Blueberries were a favorite, so I am sure your baby will end up liking a frozen treat in there!

Clothes to expensive?

Buy them second-hand. I can't tell you how many good looking sweaters, cute shirts, and sturdy pants I have found at thrift stores. I once read something that said, everything you've ever had is still on this earth. That should resonate with everyone. Plus babies only wear sleepers and onesies until they start moving anyway!

Buy as you go!

You don't need that toy when they are 6 months old when they are newborns. You don't need the 12 month outfits when they are 6 months old. You buy for their size and for the age. When they grow, that is when they will need those items.

Try Programs

Join a mom group online, there is usually deals, tips, and tricks on there that can help. You can also get advice and feel some camaraderie when you need some reprieve. It is cheaper than therapy.

Sell what you've used!

If you aren't planning on having anymore kids, sell that stuff! If it is in good shape, sell it! You don't need it anymore. Keep the things you want for your memory box, but the other things that have no meaning sell and maybe it will give some one else meaning!

Avoid Certain Brands

Certain brands can be so expensive! There are brands out there that are decently priced and store brand is usually cheaper than name brands. I usually buy store brand and have been happy with the results! Certain things to avoid name brands with: Diapers, wipes, clothes, and toys.

Buy Multi-Purpose Items

Can you buy something and it have multiple uses? Buy that item! It is way more convenient to buy something that has more than one purpose. You will use it more frequently, it will be worth the money you bought it for, and you will use it for longer. No buyer's remorse for items like these!

Free Baby Box Programs

Certain stores do free baby box programs. Some of those stores are: Target (create a registry and pick one up in-store at guest services), Walmart (create a registry and receive samples), Amazon (you must have a Prime membership, but if you create a registry and the checklist involved they will send you a box), Hey, Milestone (prev. Noobie Box) (offers a postpartum sample box), and Formula companies will send you a bunch of samples with coupons for items.

Some Quick Tips from other Moms:

1. Check Insurance and what they cover for everything: pumps, therapies, breastfeeding consultants, hospital stay, etc.

2. Don't buy baby shoes- Pointless for a baby who doesn't walk, let them be free

3. Take everything from the hospital that you can

4. Meal Prep with cheap ingredients

5. Trim back subscriptions

6. Stay away from fast food as much as possible

7. Don't buy warmers for formula/breastmilk or for wipes, or any fancy equipment unless someone buys it for you

8. Go to the library for free resources

9. Use coupons and apps as a way for supplemental income, even if just for a few dollars

10. Have a baby shower (if you are able) and relish what you are given cause then you won't have to buy it yourself!
