College Is Not for Everyone
Before I talk about why college isn't for everyone, I want to disclaim that I am not telling people to ditch their college dreams and goals. While it isn't for everyone, it is also a great asset for some people. Getting a degree in a field you love, making memories and following your dreams looks differently for every person. This article is merely to point out that you don't have to go to college to become a successful human being. Each person's journey is different, which is what makes us all uniquely special.

Public school learning has gotten worse over the years. This trend may lead you to wonder if you could or should homeschool your child. With a curriculum that you can control, homeschooling can be a huge benefit to you and your child. There’s no research saying that homeschooled kids are worse off, and it might even benefit your child in the long run. Differences Between Private and Public School
In the United States, public and private schools exist at every level of education, from pre-kindergarten through university programs. Public schools are funded and regulated by the state and/or federal government, while private schools are funded through tuition and donors and are not as strictly regulated. There are many differences between private and public school educations in the United States, so it's important to educate yourself on those differences before you commit your child or yourself to attend one or the other.

Hope for the Future
Because I always rave about how incredible my kids are, I’d like to give a few examples of why leaving Japan after just one year of teaching English is such a difficult decision to live with day by day. As you know, I love my kids and everything they do and everything they say. Aside from the obvious fact that the children here are unbiasedly better behaved and mannered, they have such a kind heart and soul towards everyone and everything to an extent that is just unheard of in the United States.

An Introduction to Action Verbs
When you are first getting the basic structure of English sentences, it's important to base those same sentences around key verbs in the language that we use every day. Knowing what action verbs are as well as when and where to use them is key to becoming better at the beginning stages of your English language studies. The Introvert's Struggle
As an introverted person, I have often been told by my parents or teachers or relatives or anyone who has anything to say, I am too shy and need to talk more to more people. That is, however, completely against my nature. This is like telling a child with ADHD to simply sit still and pay attention. It is contradictory to the person I am. It takes time for me to warm up to people and I am often uncomfortable with public speaking. That's why coming to college was scary and definitely a challenge for me. I was afraid I was not going to make any friends because I was too quiet to talk to anyone. But what terrified me the most was my Communications 101 class. This meant public speaking, something I have shied away from as much as possible. When the time came to give a speech longer than five minutes, I spoke too quickly, was shaky, and continually looked at my note cards for reference to be sure I would not forget anything. When my grade came back for that first speech, I found I had done pretty well, except my professor had marked me down for "looking nervous." I was horrified and it gave me that stark realization that I had much to improve on in my public speaking. Throughout the semester, I have gotten better at public speaking purely through practice, but there are other things that can help.
