Blizzard 2026

We thought it was over. Okay, we had a substantial snow storm, and it had all just melted. It took weeks, but it was all gone. We thought Spring was on its way.

Okay, Groundhog Phil, saw his shadow, but Phil had a track record of being notoriiously wrong. In fact there was even rumors of his retirement, he was wrong so many times.

However, it was just like the little rodent, he was right this time, and we got a blizzard, and it was a hum dinger at that.

Forecasts

They forecasted this storm, but it was inconsistent. At first they forecasted one to two inches for Sunday, and five to seven inched for today, Monday. However, it kept changing, back and forth, lower amounts, then back up to higher amounts.

Snow was piled up, in my front yard flower garden, and it was all gone from the previos storm, and this is what it looks like this morning.

The Blizzard Begins

The Blizzard began like a lamb, but it turned into a lion, so to speak. Excuse the pun. Dover, Delaware got fourteen inches of snow in total. It has stopped snowing now, thank goodness. Not wanting to make Mother Nature angry, but am I temping fate, by saying, I don't want her to visit anymore, if she is going to bring the blizzard friend with her.

Although it varied from town to town in Kent County Delaware, some towns getting more, some towns getting less, the average was 11 inches of snow.

I would like to share some photo's from my house, and of our neighborhood of the Blizzard of 2026.

Photo By Susan Payton (c) 2026 - Enlarge this photo on your computer and you can see the snowflakes coming down.

This is when the blizzard first started, as you can see in the photo, how large the snowflakes were when they were falling.

And it got worse, during the night, Sunday and early this morning hours today (Monday), until it stopped around 3pm.

Then it was finally over, and I would be lying if I said I wasn't relieved.

This was a tree down, across the street from our house. Part of it landed in the middle of the street, and blocked the road, so the snow plow could get through, which hasn't come yet. A person in the neighborhood came through with a plow on the front of his truck, and plowed a pathway.

So the verdict is in, another blizzared in the books. Whether the 2026, Blizzard will go down in history, I have no idea. Was it better or worse, than the notorious Blizzard of 1978?

I lived through the Blizzard of 1978, and would say that it was the worst Blizzard that I ever lived through. We were totally unprepared, and the forecasting in 1978, had limited technology, and they depended on weather boards and markers, rather than computer models.

The Blizzard of 1978, served as a defining event that fundamentally changed public perception of weather warnings and highlighted the challenges meteorologists faced with the available technology of the 1970's

Although today, in 2026, they predicted the blizzard, that doesn't prevent you from..................................

having to shovel snow.

If only they could do something about that.

If only AI could shovel snow.

How have you been affected by the Blizzard of 2026?

If you have been affected by a blizzard in 2026, I would like to hear about your storm. Please leave a comment, and tell me about how much snow you have gotten, and how you are coping with it.

Nope, not for me usually. Grew up outside of Chicago and the storms there were horrendous along with the windchill you froze your patootie off or your fingers or your nose or whatever wasn’t covered up. We wore lined pants underneath our skirts when we were little and had to walk to school - they never canceled school. It did not happen not even in an ice storm. Good luck shoveling out. This is why I live where I live now cause the weather is mild although I love seeing the snow🤗🤗
