There's no way you can be a resident of a city that's plagued by a disease, and not be interested in how much damage it's causing the citizens who live there.

The disease in this case is a social disease, often affecting innocent children, and in 2026, it seems to be spreading more and more.

This is something that's been on my mind, ever since a local news station did a deep dive and reported on a problem they referred to as: “Sex In Plain Sight”.

Their focus was on a high crime area in Los Angeles, infected with an ongoing epidemic of sex trafficking.

Unfortunately, L.A. is not the only city in California currently dealing with this problem, nor is California the only state attempting to root the problem out.

All we have to do is tune into any news channel or publication, to be bombarded with current events surrounding the Jeffrey Epstein files and the deviant sexual behavior of many powerful men.

Even now, the British government is currently under scrutiny on the world stage, due to former Prince Andrew's involvement with Epstein - including past allegations of illicit sexual conduct with minors, as well as possibly divulging government secrets.

Clearly this plague of sexually abusing and victimizing young girls and women has no borders.

One particular place for exploitation involving under age girls (and in some cases, boys) is the area in Los Angeles known as the Figueroa Corridor.

The problem is so blatant and prevalent in this section of the city, that business merely continued as usual, even while television camera crews filmed scantily clad bodies for the special report.

Young women of all ages and types can be seen strolling up and down sidewalks and in the streets, selling themselves to whoever is buying.

It's not hard for residents of the neighborhood to see just how out of control the rampant sex trafficking and occupational sex in plain sight has gotten in the area.

It's not unusual at any given time, to drive down this part of Figueroa Street when you're in Los Angeles, see nothing but boobs and buttocks, and bodies barely covered with nothing but pasties and thongs.

The excessive degree of sex on display in this area that law enforcement refers to as “the blade” is unbelievable.

After providing more information and insight on the problem, the ABC 7 news report began talking about plausible solutions that are being considered.

They quoted a statement made by L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman when he said:

“We’re going to go after the johns, these sex exploiters. And we’re going to go after them not just with misdemeanor prosecutions, but felony prosecutions. In fact, we’re also going to try and hopefully change the state laws as it pertains to these johns”.

Clearly this is an excellent idea since the men (johns) are just as much a part of the equation as the women supplying the sex.

The business of occupational sex, requires supply and demand, just like any other business. If either dries up, businesses can’t continue.

Getting rid of the demand could potentially be the solution for dealing with street walking sex workers, even if not those who sell sex on the internet.

Combating the problem when it involves young girls and women making connections online to prostitute themselves, becomes more difficult.

Countless young women of various ages can often be seen on social media, appearing to brag about their lifestyles connected to sex work.

While they probably believe they’re truly in control of their lives, many are simply victims who are in denial and don't even realize it.

Victims of Occupational Sex

There's a great majority of females on the streets selling sex, who should not be classified as criminals, but rather as victims, whether they’re underage or not.

It's highly unusual to find a street walker that doesn’t fall into at least one of the following “victim” categories:

  1. Under-age girls are the biggest victims anyway you look at it. They’re kids, with no business being there, under any circumstances.
  2. Women and girls of any age, that are physically forced into sex trafficking, with no say in the matter.
  3. Consenting young women and older, who typically have sexual abuse in their past, as a result, they may be misguided now, making it easy to turn to sex when coerced, pressured, or financially desperate.

One or more of the above situations is typically why the vast majority of street walkers end up on the street prostituting.

The remaining percentage that could justifiably be seen as criminals are:

Grown consenting women, who decide for themselves to sell sex on the street, even when they have alternative options and they could be doing some other type of work.

Does that honestly sound like the backstory of the average streetwalker?

Not really.

Treating "hookers" on the street as low hanging fruit when it comes to arrests and deciding who to prosecute, only leads to victimizing them even more. Meanwhile, the pimps and all the johns (especially) go untouched.

This type of unfair handling of the situation has got to stop, and more effective measures need to be taken.

Cutting Off the Demand for Street Walkers

The men (johns) who buy sex on the street represent the “demand” in this business enterprise.

Once you make it a lot more risky for men who go out cruising the streets for sex, we will begin to see a decrease in the demand for street walkers.

If they clearly have no moral compass and guilt is not a deterrent, then perhaps hitting them where it hurts will work.

Such as:

  • Take their vehicle and their means to pick anyone up for a while
  • Make them endure the shame attached to a sex related violation
  • Make them have to explain the “situation” to spouses and loved ones

It seems like the District Attorney might just be on the right path, if his words are sincere and we can trust what he says.

It’s definitely time for society to take serious steps and start penalizing the men who help perpetuate this type of criminal activity, especially when minor victims are involved.

Concluding Thoughts

When grown men allow themselves to be “johns” and “tricks” and led into illegal and illicit acts because of their sexual proclivities, they deserve to suffer the consequences.

Why not?

They're behaving like a d*ck - the very thing that got them into trouble.

What could be more fitting then to penalize the penis?
