Honey, I shrunk the bad guys.

A criminal justice fantasy.

By Guy lynnPublished about 9 hours ago 2 min read

our jails are filled to capacity, they are expensive to run, and even so, the inmates live a good life inside, color t.v. Weights, basket ball courts, food, medical facilities. Access to libraries, legal advice and lawyers. For a lot of criminals, it is like coming home. They are protected by their gangs, provided with drugs and anything they want while incarcerated. And for the real evil ones, the death penalty isn’t even much of a threat, liberals have pretty much taken that off the table. So a bunch of mad scientists got together and invented a device that could shrink a human down in size to the microbe level. ( they weren’t really mad scientists, but it was fun to describe them as such). In fact, they were respected scientists who had been working on this project for about ten years for different reasons to solve different problems, mostly medical applications. Nanotechnology.

And then someone came up with this idea…. If the death penalty was so abhorrent and cruel and unusual punishment, and our jails overcrowded and too expensive to run, and not effective as a deterrent or as punishment, why not shrink the convicted criminals down to the microbe level so they are gone from society but still alive. The liberal bleeding hearts would be appeased, society would be served, and the victims would be avenaged. And they would be, believe me! At the microbe level. You would not be able to see them, they couldn’t affect you, and they would live in terror of the alien looking and ravenous insect like bugs that live on our skin and bedsheets and furniture cloth by the million, eating your dead skin ( and now living criminals and overall evil bad guys). Hey, it’s not necessarily a death sentence, they are intelligent human beings, they could defend themselves from the Tardigrades ( that’s the real name of these microbe sized bugs). In fact, we would be giving these bad guys more of a chance to live than their victims they raped and tortured and killed and mercilessly abused. Now, what would be really satisfying is if there was some way to keep them under observation and surveillance so we could see them being attacked and eaten by the bugs. But that’s just me. I’m sure not everyone would want to see that.

But as an entrepreneur I would offer tickets at a fair price for people to watch. Make some money. I mean, the research to invent the machine and then to make it cost a lot I’m sure. If nothing else, the money raised could go to victim relief.
