11:11 Train

timing

By PacificHailiePublished about a year ago 2 min read

ahead of time, we had sped it up as it spun back and as soon as we pulled out of the parking space, of course there were many various obstacles on the road. an added two minutes to get out of the, usually seemless, loop of one way streets, to begin the actual drive.

a full circle around the block, passing by the apartment we had left, the driver was determined the path would clear for her. As it did, with the same timingly pace, we arrived to the train station, only to miss the turn into the entrance.

She swiftly switches lanes as i hesitate to mention there is another entrance just ahead, she prepares to U- turn to re-enter the first entrance.

As we pull up to the red light i notice the car clock reads 11:11. which is just a few minutes ahead. stuck at the red light, we then realize there is no time and i may miss this train, which would be the third missed train (amongst two rescheduled trains). All within a two week visit, which was initially only planned to be over the span of a 3-day weekend.

We suddenly both realize that we have completely run out of time and that if i dont get out of the car at that moment, i would indefinitely miss the train in trying loop back around. i could see the driver hesitating to state this as she would not want me to exit the car within the intersection. i had already understood it would be safe for me to walk based on which cars were haulted at the light, though it was not a typical intersection. As i felt the ease of my safety based on the confidence and awareness of my surroundings, i looked up to see a man quickly crossing the street that i had noticed from beyond my peripheral of getting my backpack and suitcase prepared in case this truly was the last result. i looked up to see the confirmation of the crosswalk sign and that he was in fact crossing safely. it still read the walk sign. (rather and the timed hand that determined the ending of the pedestrian crossing).

i ran up to the train and caught up behind the man i had seen crossing the street, he was being denied entry to the train as he had not finished purchasing the ticket on his phone. i hoped that i had.
