Old Sanctville, or as it was called at the time of the Eidriuan Unification, Sanctville, was historically the seat of the Flegrant Dynasty. Malediction Megantani united the Wegrangian Dynasty centered in Shadowmirre and the Flegrant Dynasty in Sanctville. The creation of the Eidruian Empire ended two thousand years of free Cochleanic city-states. The major cultural differences have never bridged the gap, leaving a notable discrepancy between the North and South homelands.

Compared to Shadomirre, the city is clustered with some of the oldest and grandest buildings made of the famous Eidruian teal and copper-veined marble, White and blue-veined marble, scattered with copper sculptures in various states of patina. The city has grown and warped through various minor disasters such as fires, battles, and an industrial explosion during the recent past of King Killoran's rule. More recent expensive buildings have begun using exotic imported stone from Dretrexial. 

The original language of the southeastern coast, Cochleanea, is spoken from Old Sanctville to River Kiss Bay, all former Cochleanic city-states. As in other areas of the Empire, the language is kept alive, spoken in the cities, surrounding villages, and farms. The nautilus is their ancient symbol, signifying the Sanctvillian connection to the cochlear sea, and the sailor's return from the sea. It's still featured on the Old Sanctville standard. 

Seafood, noodles, and hearty breads are all staples of the Old Sanctvillian diet. With a wide variety of vegetables available from the abundant farms of the Midlands just north. Deep, rich red wine made from the Crown Cabernet grapes, grown and harvested on and around the southern end of the Shadowcaste mountains. Crown Cabernet is steeped with fruits and spices in the cool months, sweetened and frozen into granita in the summer, and used in many savory meat dishes. Imported Coffee and Broogler root drinks are taken at any time of day or year. 

Art and culture are dominated by the Dark tones and themes of the Sanctvillian opera, along with the bombastic stylings of the plethora of brass bands. The trumpet leads the night, with structured partnered dancing ruling the many dance floors. The domination over dark entities such as devils, resistance through upholding personal values, and family dramas top the list of common plots in books, theatre, and music produced and performed in the city. Dancing and music are intrinsic to an enjoyable evening in Old Sanctville.

Even the paintings and statuary reflect the history and spirit of Old Sanctville. Sea views, featuring huge sea-monsters, sailors fighting for their catch and their life, and uncanny portraits of the Royal and peasant alike are found in galleries great and small. All focus less on realism and more on larger-than-life characters and situations. The Old Sanctville Academy for fine arts remains a renowned educational institution, having been established by Queen Jezebel Auriel over 200 years ago. 

Medium-length coats, loose trousers, and slim-silhouette dresses in dark or metallic fabrics rule the Old Sanctvillian fashion scene. Metallic ornamentation and exotic leather embellishment are popular. The more casual, everyday clothing is made mostly from plant-based fabrics, like linen and cotton. 

The primary faith of the Old Sanctvillian people has long been the Church of Guesis. The Cathedral there is the largest dedicated to the Father on the entire continent. Many old families have sponsored clusters of candles to be lit every day for their loved ones. They also invite and make substantial donations to the Priests of the Father to preside over events such as weddings, births, and other important family matters. Statues of Guesis dot the city that claims to be the location of his birth. Reminding all who pass by, of the roots, family, and loyalty play in Old Sanctvillian life.  

The vast, deep port, rife with piers, some older than the Megantani dynasty itself, hosts imports from everywhere on Harctellion and beyond. Reophate sends their approved trade to the Old Sanctville port, including grain and livestock. Mineral resources flow in from small mining outfits on Dretrexial. Zabridian spices and crystals are brought in at dedicated piers, where shop owners and restaurateurs buy direct from the spice importers. 

Old Sanctville maintains its power through the many powerful and notable families who have retained their holdings and social positions there. Historically, Old Sanctville is home to the Verna Family, one of the more powerful lesser imperial families. One of the most notorious families in the Empire, the Hansina family is also based in Old Sanctville, where they oversee their own empire; one of transportation security. Hansinas patrol and inspect ships at the dock and carriages transporting goods across the empire. An operation overseen by the Matriarch Countess Trombina Hansina from their home inside the Old Sanctville city walls.
