There is a Light That Never Goes Out

Loving "The Smiths"

By Drishty GairePublished about 4 hours ago 1 min read

To The Smiths today. To their ability to blend melancholy and tenderness to melodies and wrap it and present to us. To balancing the bittersweet and the beautiful. "It’s so easy to laugh, it’s so easy to hate, it takes guts to be gentle and kind..." The music flows like a calm, peaceful river. I imagine myself sailing on a lake, surrounded by serene, lush greenery, as The Smiths’ songs wash over me. It feels so warm, gentle, and kind.

"I was looking for a job, and I found one, and heaven knows I’m miserable now." Sometimes, what we seek doesn't bring the happiness we expected. Whether it's a sense of unfulfilled satisfaction or simply not finding it rewarding, we often don’t appreciate what we have. Sometimes, we abandon what we once thought was valuable. We long for something only to realize it doesn't bring the joy we expected.

"Love is natural and real, but not for you, my love... not tonight, my love." Here's to not loving what we have.

"Take me out tonight, take me anywhere, I don't care, I don't care..." There are times we feel unworthy of what we have, when we long to escape. We crave distance, the urge to disappear, unsure where to go, but our soul is drawn far away, longing to vanish.

"There is a light that never goes out."

Beautiful yet incomplete.
